Geography

Terrain near the coast and along the Hudson River are mostly swampy but there are unswampy areas. In the North the terrain is mountainous and covered in trees. Most of the state is dominated by farms, forests, rivers, mountains, and lakes. The ground is rocky but once the rocks are removed, the land is very fertile. The mountain ranges in New York are the Appalachian Mountains, Hudson Highlands, Catskill Mountains, and the Shawangunk Mountains. Some of the bodies of water include the St. Lawrence River, Niagara River, Hudson River.
